The ultimate hospo solution

A targeted coupon in Nomni is built from three parts: the offer, the audience rules that decide who qualifies, and the usage settings that control how often it can be redeemed. You set all three in one place, then it runs from there.

This is the hands-on version. For the strategy side- which rule suits which goal and how to think about the offer itself- pair it with Targeted Coupons: Send the right offer to the right customer. Here we walk through the actual build: where each field sits, what the rules do, and the controls worth setting before you switch anything live.

You configure all of this from your Nomni admin panel, under Loyalty Marketing > Perks. Here is how it comes together.

The anatomy of a targeted coupon

Every coupon is built across two tabs and one set of controls. Hold this shape in mind and the setup reads cleanly:

Layer

Where you set it

What it decides

The offer

Information tab

The discount, the value, the channels

The audience

Rules tab

Who qualifies to see it

The guardrails

Information tab (usage fields)

How often and how long it can be used

Setting it up, step by step

  1. Open Loyalty Marketing > Perks and select Add New Perk. This opens a fresh coupon on the Information tab.

  2. Name the coupon and set its expiry. The name is your internal reference. The expiry date is the point the offer becomes unavailable to everyone, so treat it as the hard stop for the campaign.

  3. Choose the discount type and amount. Set the type to percentage or dollar amount, then enter the value. You can also tie the discount to a specific product or variant if the offer is item led, and set a minimum spend if you want a threshold before it applies.

  4. Choose where it runs. Under Order Source, select the channels the coupon should work on: Nomni POS, Nomni Kiosk, the Magic App, or online ordering. You can select more than one; the rules and offer you set apply to each channel you pick.

  5. Add your targeting rules. Move to the Rules tab and select Add New Rule. Each rule is three parts: a Type (what you are checking), an Operator (how you are comparing it), and a Value. Stack more than one rule to narrow the audience further.

  6. Set the guardrails, then activate. Configure the usage controls (below), tick the coupon active, and save.

The rules you can set

Rules are how a coupon decides who qualifies. Each one pairs a customer attribute with an operator and a value. The panel supports more rule types than are shown here; these are the commonly used ones:

Rule type

What it checks

Operators

Example

New user

First-time customer

==

== YES

Birthday month

Birthday month

==, between

== 12 (Dec)

Current store

Store the customer is ordering at

==, in

== 123

Date/time window (event campaign)

Date and time based rules

==, between

between two dates, 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Membership level

Loyalty tier

==

== 2

Tier upgrade

Days since a tier upgrade

lessThan, moreThan

moreThan 30

Order / visit count

Number of visits or orders

==, between, moreThan, lessThan

== 1

Product

Ordered specific items

==, in

in: [1001, 1002]

Product category

Ordered from a category

==, moreThan

== Drinks

The operators stay consistent: == for an exact match, between for an inclusive range, in to match any item in a list, and lessThan or moreThan for thresholds.

The guardrails worth setting first

These fields sit on the Information tab and decide how the coupon behaves over time. Set them before you go live, not after:

  • Is single use only: restricts the coupon to one redemption per customer.

  • Max redemptions per user: caps how many times one customer can use it inside a window.

  • Reset interval and reset frequency: a rolling day count, or a weekly or monthly reset, so recurring offers reopen on their own from a single setup.

  • Perk expiry per user: a personal window that starts the day each customer first becomes eligible.

Only one targeted coupon applies to a given order, and single-use limits are checked server-side rather than on the device, so the cap holds even across different terminals or channels.

A quick recap

To do this

Set this

Define the offer

Discount type, amount, minimum spend

Decide the channels

Order Source

Choose the audience

Rules tab (type, operator, value)

Control usage

Single use, max redemptions, reset interval

Close the window

Expiry date, per-user expiry

Get the three layers right: the offer, the rules and the usage limits, and the coupon behaves exactly as scoped from the moment it goes live. That is the point of building it in this order: nothing fires wider or more often than you intended.
